i fibbed to the principal

so today was one of those days where everything went wrong at school. i left my class with a stack of papers that needed grading but then realized on my way back i accidentally threw them in the trash can by mistake. ugh, talk about a total fail day. so instead of owning up to it and admitting what happened, which would have meant confessing to being careless and asking for more work - yikes! - i told the principal that i had left them at home because there was an unexpected emergency with one of my family members. i know, it's a silly lie but honestly, i couldn't handle telling her it was just me being clumsy that morning. now every time i see her or have to ask for anything in the future, im gonna feel this little twinge of guilt about fibbing and wondering if she knows what really happened. oh well, lesson learned though.
