My Roommate's Dirty Socks Bother Me So Much

Hey everyone, so here’s a thing about me. I’m this weirdo who moved to college and is trying to be cool with everything that comes along with it, but there’s one tiny detail that drives me nuts: my roommate’s socks. Like, they are everywhere! And let me tell you, the smell? It's something out of a horror movie. But here’s the kicker, I’m kind of embarrassed about being bothered by this because everyone talks about how we should be mature and grown-up now or whatever. But honestly, my room is turning into an episode of Hoarders in a dorm setting! So I was thinking, maybe it’s okay to ask him politely if he could put his socks away? Or do you think that would just make things worse? Is this normal, or am I being overly dramatic here? Any advice on how to handle this without being the roommate from hell?
