My Secret Artistic Side

Ever since I was little, I've loved drawing cartoons and doodling in my notebooks. But as soon as we started high school and everyone got serious about their 'real' interests, I sort of buried it away. These days when someone asks me what hobbies I have, I say stuff like 'reading' or 'hanging out with friends,' but the truth is that whenever I get home from a long day at school, the first thing I do is reach for my sketchbook and pencils. It's this weird secret world of cute monsters and funny faces that only exists in my room. My art supplies are all tucked away in a box under my bed because... well, I'm not sure why exactly. I guess I worry about people seeing me as just the 'artsy' kid or feeling like it doesn't matter if they know about this side of me. But lately, there's this new boy in class who draws these amazing comic-style stories during breaks and talks about how he wants to be a cartoonist one day. It got me thinking that maybe I shouldn't hide away something I love just because everyone else is busy proving their seriousness or whatever. Maybe it's time to let my artistic side out into the light.
