I Made My Kids Cry at Chuck E. Cheese's for No Reason

So this weekend we took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's. You know how it is, balloons, games, and all that jazz. The place was packed as usual, but hey, I wanted my little ones to have a good time. We got there early morning on Saturday, hoping to beat the rush. Anyway, I had brought their favorite snacks and some surprises for them too. But something just didn't feel right. Maybe it was because of all the screaming kids or the bright lights hurting my eyes. Suddenly, this overwhelming feeling hit me, that maybe today wasn't going to be as fun as planned. Before I knew it, my voice got loud and sharp. I ended up snapping at them for things like picking up the wrong game tokens or not moving fast enough through the crowd. The more I tried to control myself, the worse it got. The whole place was just too much, way more sensory overload than expected. Then came that moment. They wanted to take a nap and suggested we head home early. I should have been okay with this idea; after all, they were just exhausted like any other kids might be in such an environment. But instead of listening or agreeing, something in me decided to overreact. I started yelling at them for being weak, not enjoying themselves enough, and dragging everyone else down too. It was a real meltdown on my part, turning into this tirade that left both of us crying by the end of it. The staff and other parents were giving me these weird looks, like 'Is this really how you treat your kids?' I felt terrible. So here's the confession: At Chuck E. Cheese's, surrounded by fun and excitement designed for joy, I somehow managed to make my children cry instead. And it was all because of my own issues with being overwhelmed and stressed out, not anything they did wrong at all. This doesn't happen often, but when it does... boy, do I feel like the biggest jerk ever.
