My Artistic Experiment Backfired at Work

So here's the deal. I'm an artist by trade and passion, but I also work a full-time gig as a designer for this big ad agency. It’s pretty cutthroat and there are always projects on tight deadlines that require some creative thinking to pull off. Last month, we had one of those. The boss threw out a challenge: “Come up with something so eye-catching it’ll blow our competitors away.” I couldn’t help but feel like this was the perfect opportunity for me to shine. I spent hours brainstorming ideas and ended up landing on an interactive art piece where people would literally step into a painting, making them part of the artwork themselves. The idea is that they’d take photos from inside and share it all over social media with our hashtag. Seemed brilliant in my head! So I start working on this huge canvas, sketching out a cityscape but leaving blanks for people to walk through as if stepping into another dimension. But there's the rub: it was during lunch break, so I grabbed some spray paint from home that morning and whipped up something quick with glitter mixed in. I thought it would add an element of surprise and make everything sparkle like magic. What ended up happening is my colleague’s hands got sprayed with the sparkly stuff when she touched it by mistake after lunch. She couldn’t wash off the glitter for hours and joked that now her coworkers think she’s part glitter fairy or something from a whimsical children's book, which isn't exactly professional attire around here. Needless to say, the boss wasn’t thrilled about our little creative mishap. We ended up ditching my idea completely but I couldn’t help but laugh at how it all spiraled out of control so quickly. Lesson learned: always plan for a backup when you’re taking big artistic risks at work!
