New City Confessions

Anonymous Scandalous Flirt #863 · General

So I just moved to this new city for a job change. It's kind of odd because every time someone asks me what I think about it so far, I find myself saying something like 'It's nice,' but inside, I'm thinking maybe I made a big mistake. You know how when you move somewhere and everyone is all like, 'Oh my god, it's going to be amazing! You're starting fresh!' Yeah, that never happens for me. The other day, I went out for coffee and ended up walking past this really cool record shop with an old-school sign in the window that said 'Vinyl Forever.' It made me think about all those times back home when my friends and I would joke about how we'd open a vintage record store someday. But now here I am, just staring at it like some kind of tourist. And then, oh yeah, there was this one day where I got lost on the way to work and ended up walking by what looked like an abandoned building with graffiti all over it. It felt so strange, like half of the city is new and exciting, and the other half looks like something from a horror movie. Anyway, now that I've rambled about my coffee shop crush and nearly got mugged (okay, not really, but you get what I mean), back to the main point: moving to this new place feels both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. I just hope I make friends soon so I don't spend too much time alone in my apartment, wondering if I should've stayed put.
