Bought More Art Supplies Than I Can Handle

So, here's the thing. For my birthday this year, my mom surprised me with a new sketchbook and a set of colored pencils. You know how it goes, she always knows what to get me, even if she's just winging it that day because she forgot all about it until the last minute. Anyway, I've been drawing for fun since I was little, but lately, I've had this urge to take things up a notch. Like, really dive into art and see where it goes. And you know what? It's going great! I'm sketching every chance I get, doodling during class breaks, honestly, my teachers are probably getting tired of seeing my drawings in the margins of notes. But that’s beside the point, right? So I joined this local art club and started browsing their online forums. People were talking about different mediums and techniques and sharing their work. It was all so inspiring! And then there it was, a big sale at the art supply store downtown. They had deals on everything from paintbrushes to pastels, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I needed it all. I walked in, feeling like Christmas morning but with art supplies instead of toys. I bought way more than I originally intended, a whole set of acrylic paints, brushes that felt almost too fancy for my skill level, even some printmaking stuff that I’ve never tried before. The total was way higher than I expected and when the cashier handed me back my change, I swear my face turned bright red because it was so little. Oh man, I knew I should have budgeted better but also, how can you resist all those colorful pens and paper? Now here’s the kicker, it's been a week since that shopping spree and honestly, I've barely touched most of what I bought. That sketchbook is still almost brand new and half of my colored pencils are untouched in their wrapping. I’m starting to worry if I made a mistake, but then again, who can resist all those pretty supplies? And here’s the confession part, when someone asked me how things were going at the art club last night, I fibbed about how much time I've spent practicing because... well, let's just say it makes me feel like less of an imposter. So now, there’s this tiny guilt eating away at me for lying, but also a lot of excitement for all the creative possibilities ahead. Guess I’ll have to find that balance between buying and actually creating, right?
