When My Kids Are Naps Are Naptime Is Not Their Plan

I swear to God, this week was the worst. I'd plan out these perfect nap times where I could get some actual work done or have a minute to myself, no big asks. But it's like my kids read my mind and decided, 'Nah, not today.' They’d just stay up for hours, cranky by dinnertime. One day last week, they actually managed to get to their rooms but then one of them started crying about a lost toy that was right there all along. I almost went into meltdown mode myself. So I did something crazy, I turned on the TV in their room and let them watch a show while napping. Silly me thinking it might lull them to sleep instead of waking them up more. But hey, they finally dozed off for an hour that day. When I told my husband about this little trick, he laughed and said I was losing it. Maybe I am, but at least the house got quiet long enough for me to breathe.
