Forgot to Water the Plants Again

Last week, I made my daughter think I had watered her plants while she was out of town for work. She asked me over the phone how they were doing and mentioned that if they needed watering, she would be right back or had left a note with the neighbor. But when I got to them on Saturday morning, I realized I had completely forgotten. It wasn't a major thing, but the guilt of having lied stuck with me for a while. In my defense, it's not like I was neglecting her pets - they were still well taken care of and didn't need daily watering themselves. Still, telling that little fib made me feel pretty shabby.
