Forgot My Crush's Phone at His Place

So, uh, I left my best friend's phone at his place last week. But it wasn't just any day. No, I was sneaking a peek at his Instagram stories, and there, he posted a pic of him and this girl from math class. They were laughing together, and honestly, they looked so cute together that for a second, my heart skipped a beat. And then the real problem hit me: what if she texts him back? What if it's something romantic or deep? I had to get there before he does! So I went straight over but knocked on his door instead of ringing the bell because I was too nervous. His mom answered, and let me in. She didn't know why I came and thought maybe it was a surprise birthday party for him or something. I just wanted my phone back quickly, you know? But he wasn't home yet. And as soon as his mom walked away, I noticed the floor near where his backpack usually sits had been swept recently. Aha! I knew exactly what that meant: there were crumbs from snacks and candy wrappers under there. So I bent down to look and ended up dropping my phone in a pile of junk. His mom came back with this confused look while I was trying to get it out, which made me look even more crazy. When he got home and saw the mess I left behind, his face went all red, like mine probably did too. We both laughed about how awkward it was later but still... I felt pretty embarrassed.
