My Little White Lie at Work

So, I'm the kind of person who usually tells the truth because why make things up when reality is perfectly good as it is? But, there was this one time when I got caught in a situation that made me feel like lying might actually be the best option. It was during a meeting where my boss asked us to share something we're grateful for at work. Now, there's this guy who always seems to get all the praise and recognition, even though his ideas are usually half-baked at best. So instead of saying 'I'm grateful for this team,' which would have been the obvious choice (and true), I decided to go with something a bit more specific and less... boring. 'I’m really grateful that you scheduled that meeting last week,’ I said, my voice dripping with faux sincerity. And here's where it gets good: the meeting I was referring to was the one we all knew was a waste of time because he insisted on going over every single detail of his half-formed ideas. But hey, I wasn’t lying about being grateful for the fact that the meeting happened at least, I mean, technically, you can't be ungrateful for something just because it's not particularly useful or enjoyable. So yeah, my lie was more like a creative retelling of reality rather than an outright fib. I guess the moral of this story is: if you want to keep your sanity in meetings, sometimes a little exaggeration helps.
