My Closet is Full of Lies

I've been keeping all these secrets about my hoarding habits and now I'm ready to come out. Every time someone asks me where something is in the house, there's always an excuse... 'oh, it must be under all that stuff,' or 'probably on top of a pile somewhere.' How do you deal with sneaking around your own home for misplaced items? Anyone have tips for sorting through clutter without going crazy?
