My Epic Battle With Perfectionism

So here's this thing I've been battling with for years and I reckon it might just be part of my nature as an artist. You know how artists are supposed to push boundaries, right? To keep trying new things and never settle? Well, I do that, but then I go the extra mile by being a perfectionist. It's like this constant internal war: 'I must create something amazing!' followed by 'Ugh, this is terrible.' Yeah, it's quite the drama in my head, honestly. Anyway, last week I was working on this piece that really mattered to me, not just for myself but for a gallery showing. The day before submission, I took one look at it and thought, 'This isn't perfect enough!' So instead of just submitting something I'm proud of (which, let's be honest, is good), I scrapped the whole thing! Started over from scratch. It was like hitting reset on a video game but without saving your progress first. Of course, there wasn't time to redo it all and make it perfect, whatever that even means anyway, right? So I ended up missing my submission deadline by a hair's breadth. My friends say I should just have submitted something before the deadline, no matter what, but in my mind, perfection is non-negotiable. I feel like this might be an ongoing battle for me, trying to find that balance between pushing myself and not driving myself crazy over tiny details. Maybe someday I'll get it right, or maybe I'll just keep on doing things the hard way because why make it easy when you can make it challenging?
