I'm Not as Clean as I Look

So here’s the thing, I tell everyone that I’m this super organized and clean stay-at-home parent. You know, because it's just expected when you're around kids all day long. But let me break a sweat on something no one else knows: my house isn’t actually perfect at all times like people think! And yes, I do hide the messiest parts when guests drop by unexpectedly or during Zoom calls with family. It’s funny because I’m always asking my partner to help out more around the house, and I’m this big fan of getting the kids involved in chores too. But here’s a little secret: I’ve been caught a few times leaving old pizza boxes under the bed just so they won’t stink up the room right away. It's a bit embarrassing now that my son is getting older because he's starting to question where all these cardboard fortresses come from. I guess what it comes down to is that I care about how things look on the outside, but deep down, there’s this mess and chaos no one ever sees. Still, I’m proud of making us a home despite not being as tidy in reality as I present online or to friends. It's just my little way of keeping up appearances sometimes.
