My Boss's Birthday Surprise Failed Spectacularly

So uh, my boss at work, let's call her Susan, she has this big birthday coming up. I thought it'd be a great idea to surprise the team with a small gathering in our conference room. Nothing too fancy; just some cake and balloons. You know how you get excited about these things but then everything goes sideways? That’s what happened to me. First off, I didn't check if anyone had allergies before ordering a cake. We've got this one guy, Mark, who's allergic to peanuts, and everyone knows it because he always brings his EpiPen. And do you think I remembered that little detail when choosing the flavors? Noooo. So now we've got an emergency on our hands and half the office is in lockdown. Next up, the balloons...I thought they'd add a festive touch, but apparently they're not allowed in the building anymore because someone had an asthma attack once after one popped. I didn't know that until security came knocking just as we were about to start singing 'Happy Birthday'. The cherry on top was when I accidentally left my phone behind with all these secret plans written down, including a note to myself saying 'Don’t forget the peanuts!' Talk about being a dork. Poor Susan probably thinks everyone forgot and that I’m some kind of terrible planner. She’s always so put together, she probably doesn’t even need a party. Anyway, here's hoping for better luck next time. Maybe just sticking to sending her flowers or something?
